The original “Dr J” of tennis
Here’s a great story about a man who influenced some of the greatest black tennis players to ever pick up a racquet, including Arthur Ashe and Althea Gibson. He lived and taught in Lynchburg, Virginia, about 50 miles from my hometown of Roanoke. It’s a great read, and I hope you enjoy it. Here’s the link:
