Detecting and Dealing With String Clamp Slippage
In one of my previous articles titled, “Upgrading Your Tension Calibrator,” I talked about how your stringing machine is only as good as your tension calibrator.
This video will share how achieving consistency as a stringer is paramount and how your string job is only as good as your machine string clamps!
Check out the video below
The Top 4 Guidelines That You Should Consider when Adjusting your String Clamps
- Gauge – Tighter for thin and looser for thick
- Tension – Tighter for high (65+) and looser for low
- String Type – Looser for multifilament and natural gut
- String Coating – Tighter for slippery strings
COMMENTS:
- At 8:05, I want to clarify that the 1 pound decrease in reference tension applies only to the pre-stretched first four mains.
- At 8:36, I meant to say “add thickness to the clamp,” not “avoid thickness to the clamp.”
