Alcaraz wins back to back Wimbledon titles
Carlos Alcaraz won his second Wimbledon title, defeating Djokovic in straight sets 6-2, 6-2, 7-6(4). Alcraz was up 5-4 in the third set and serving for the match at 40-love, but Djokovic fought off all three match points and broke the Spaniard’s service for only the first time in the match. Alcaraz kept his composure and held serve at 5-6 to take the match to a 3rd set tiebreak, where he prevailed.
So, what do you think? Is this the match that puts an exclamation point on the changing of the guard, ushering in the next generation of young players? Federer has retired. Nadal will most likely retire at the end of this year, Murray is questionable at best, and Djokovic has lost back-to-back Wimbledon finals.
This was not just another win for Alcaraz. He dominated from start to finish, winning the first two sets by a score of 6-2. While Novak fought back in the third set, it was not enough to overcome the two-set deficit and stop Alcaraz.
So here’s a question that begs to be asked. Who do you think will win the U.S. Open? So far, Alcaraz and Sinner have won the first three slams, and those two are only going to get better with time. Who wins the U.S. Open this year?
