Master Athletics T100
The T100 is the second of two fully customizable tennis racquets showcasing their proprietary EDGE technology and Tuning Kit. The design offers the player the power to fully customize their racquet by changing its weight and balance. Master Athletics takes the concept of player customization to an entirely new level with two options. First, their tuning kit provides eight 1.5 gram adhesive backed strips that can be inserted into 9 separate locations on the racquet. Next, they offer a 2-pack of insertable 10 gram butt caps to round out their customization concept. Our specs on the T100 were very close to the stated specs from Master Athletics so their tolerances are pretty tight. We found more than enough room in the grommet at 7T to tie off the main strings on the next to last main. This also left 6T open as a perfect spot to tie off the cross strings. 7H was also a breeze and large enough to insert the string for the tie-off to start the crosses. It seems like most major manufacturers these days are recognizing that many stringers prefer to tie off the mains on the next-to-last main on the perimeter of the frame and Master Athletics has clearly followed suit with their design.
The T100 is more hefty than the T100 Lite, coming in at over a full ounce heavier at 10.9 oz as opposed to the Lite version at 9.57 (both strung weights). This racquet will also be more stable on off-center hits with a torsional stability rating of 15, compared to the Lite version at 13. The stiffness on both models was the same at 58 on the Babolat RDC. This racquet is a nice offering for those looking for more power and depth on the ball and is nicely suited for players who like to hug the baseline.

Thanks again, Tim, for introducing this innovatively designed racquet. I noticed you listed the unstrung and strung static weights. Is the swingweight unstrung or strung?
The swing weight, balance and polar moment were taken after the racquet was strung
Is the flex really 58? That’s unusual these days. Looks nice, stats would indicate arm-friendliness. Did you get to play with it?
Yes I hit with both the T100 and the T100 Lite. The Lite was too light for me but I can see it as a great choice for a transition racquet for young players. The T100 felt a lot like my Wilson Clash 100 due to the stiffness, which by BTW, that RDC flex reading of 58 is correct. The innovation with customization is quite unique and I’ve often wondered why more companies never explored this concept. The only one I’m aware of is Donnay that had 3g strips that could be inserted into the side grommet strips of specific frames and repositioned. The price points of the Master Athletics will make their racquets more attractive to a large segment of players.
