New Racquet Weight Training Aid

I get a lot of calls/emails with people wanting to introduce new products and every once in a while, something catches my eye and causes me to stand up and take notice. I recently received two versions of the new “Racquet Weight” training aid that copies the concept of using a doughnut-shaped weight for baseball bats. Anyone who follows baseball knows exactly what I’m talking about. The batter in the “on deck” circle slides the weight over the bat, significantly increasing the weight of the bat and then swings the bat to warm up. The idea is that once removed, the bat feels lighter and more maneuverable when it’s that batters time to step up to the plate and hit.
The Racquet Weight training device works using the same principle except with a tennis racquet. The device is attached to the yoke of the racquet via a velcro system and it comes in two different models; light and heavy. I’ll be taking my two DEMO’s to the court tomorrow to give them a try and introduce them to my group. As a baseball guy from way back I think the response is going to be positive. I can see some real benefits of a device like this.

I seem to recall that someone at the 2013 symposium had a few of these on their stand. Looks a good idea I’d be interested in your feedback, as they have now appeared on the UK market.
Yeah, I have seen a few like this before, specifically ones that fit on the throat. I actually have a weight training device that hooks onto the strings and you can change the weight to around 6 different weights. I prefer the training weight device to be closer to the head, but not a fan of having to hook it to the strings. I use it just doing practice swings to warm up with sometimes….but perhaps these devices that attach to the throat you could actually use to hit balls with?
Yes the device I’m talking about has a very strong velcro attachment so you can, if you choose, leave it on the racquet during your warm-up
Hi Tim
Have you any feedback from using the device on court?
