USTA Hawaii Pacific Inc. will assume management responsibilities starting in January 2021. Murata, a certified U.S. Professional Tennis Association teaching professional, will oversee private lessons, clinics junior programs and a retail store that will operate under USTA auspices. Murata grew up in Kona and is a graduate of Konawaena High School and UH Manoa.
Royal Kona Resort Taps USTA to Manage Tennis Venue, Names New Tennis Director
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii (Dec. 16, 2020) – Royal Kona Resort on Hawaii Island has finalized an agreement for the management of its tennis venue. Starting in January 2021, the U.S. Tennis Association (USTA) Hawaii Pacific, Inc. will assume management responsibilities for the resort’s tennis club, pro shop, and tennis operations.
Albert Murata, a certified U.S. Professional Tennis Association teaching professional since 1986, has been named the resort’s new director of tennis. Murata grew up in Kona, Hawaii and is a graduate of Konawaena High School and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He will oversee private lessons, clinics, junior programs and a retail store that will operate under USTA auspices.
The Royal Kona Resort tennis club is one of the top tennis facilities on Hawaii Island. It features four Latexite courts, resurfaced in 2017 and open for day or night play.
Located in Kailua-Kona, the oceanfront Royal Kona Resort reopened in October 2020 after completing a $15 million renovation of its deluxe guest rooms, tower corridors and pool desk.
