Managing your Stringing Business with StringBiz
Hey all, I’m Damian! I’m pretty new to the world of racquet stringing (and tennis!), but I’m the type that tends to dive in headfirst. I got bitten by the tennis bug about 5 years ago, started playing several times a week, and before you know it, I was diving into the world of stringing my own ever-growing pile of racquets…. and strings, and friends’ racquets… and teammates, etc…
That’s where StringBiz comes in. By day, I’m a mild-mannered software engineering leader, and by night, I figured I could create something useful to track the aforementioned ‘habit‘ I’d developed. Originally, I made it for myself, but very quickly realized I was building something pretty cool. I talked with players, coaches, racquet stringer,s and continuously improved StringBiz over many months into the platform it is today. My aim was a few things:
- Catalog and track all of the variables easily
- Create a great experience for the player
- Make the platform flexible, efficient, and FAST
Tracking
StringBiz goes to great lengths to capture the data you care about as a stringer and a player. You can optionally choose to capture each racquet’s data, such as weight, swingweight, stiffness, etc.

The inventory system tracks and amortizes your cost for your strings, down to the foot/meter, recalculates when you top up on those string sales, warns you when you’re low, etc.

It even keeps track of customer strings and will let you know you’ve got their strings on hand when they drop a racquet off.
Player Experience
For your customers, everyone becomes a professional with the QR Label system. I thought, how can I make the label, which used to be a throwaway item, a much more useful thing? Well, what if the label served an actual purpose? By using a QR code, the player can scan their racquet and get a historical view of their services. Maybe they really liked the strings they used 6 months ago, or the tension, but they don’t remember what it was. Now, all that is a quick scan away

The labels are half the story. StringBiz also supports text, email, and WhatsApp messaging. When customers opt in, the app will automatically send them job confirmations with all of the relevant info. They’re even actionable. They can reply, and responses show up right in your dashboard. You’ll never miss a beat. StringBiz will remind them, on their term,s when their racquets are due to be restrung, improving your return customer numbers.

Stringer Experience
As I said, I want using StringBiz to be simple, fast, and powerful. I’ve designed it so nearly everything you do happens from the dashboard. No digging around in spreadsheets, or switching tabs, or updating tables. It’s point, click, enter a little info, and everything else is taken care of. You can add customers, create jobs, add strings, and send messages, all from the same place. I even show you the stringing patterns for over 1000 racquets right from the dashboard

I’ve also designed it to be entirely mobile-friendly. View it on your phone – StringBiz formats great, and is easy to navigate. You can grab racquets courtside, create those jobs on the spot, and not have to worry about data entry later. It’s all cloud-based – you can get to it from any browser
Analytics
Lastly, what good is grabbing all of this data without knowing your business? StringBiz also makes it easy to understand how it is performing. The built-in analytics tracks your costs, overhead, inventory management, etc. It even tracks how long string jobs take to complete. And it’s all exportable if you need it.

I thought I’d take a look at your software, via the free trail. But I cannot set it up for use in the UK, Is this a problem you have seen before, if so have you a fix please. If not seen before can you take a look please.

Hi Padraig! That’s certainly an oversight (especially given my grandparents are from Cork)! It should now be in the list of countries you can choose from and will default customer phone numbers to +353 (may need to refresh). Thanks for letting me know!
